Preparing for Your Cruise

1. Passports

When visiting foreign countries all members of your party will need a valid passport, this will probably be retained at reception on the ship and will be returned to you at the end of the cruise

You will probably want to invest in some new clothes for your cruise holiday, during the duration of your cruise there maybe 2 or 3 formal evenings were you would be expected to be smartly dressed, men usually wear a suit or tuxedo and ladies a evening gown or cocktail dress, during the day you would be expected to dress casual but keep it smart, jeans can be worn on most ships but there maybe areas of the ship at certain times where jeans should not be wore such as the restaurant for example   

4. Clothing /What to wear

You will probably want to take some money for buying gifts etc, you should check the currency of the countries you will be visiting, the ship should have a bureau de change where you can change your cash but they only carry limited amounts so  it  is probably best if you take the currency with you for this reason

3. Spending Money

Once you have paid your deposit and booked your cruise you should receive confirmation in the post, as well as this you will probably be sent details of shore excursions for your cruise, you should get a choice of excursions for each port you are going to visit, it will also have details of the duration of the excursions which could range from a few hours to a full day and the price of the excursion, on a full day excursions there maybe a meal included in the price.

Your excursions can usually be booked in advance

And this is recommended because there will probably be a discount for doing this, however you can book them onboard the ship from the excursions office

It may be worth making a list of everything you want to take with you and marking it off on the list as you pack, if you forget something that you cant buy  on the ship it may be 3 days into your cruise before you reach port.
