




MV Van Gogh is a cruise ship owned by The Netherlands -based Club Cruise The ship was built in 1975 by Wärtsilä Turku shipyard and was originally built as a cruise ferry but was rebuilt into a cruise ship during the 1980's the car deck area was replaced with a cinema and casino/disco complex and further cabins were added.The van Gogh was a popular ship in the UK cruise market and was operated by travelscope for a number of years, however after travelscope went bankrupt in 2007 Club Cruise established a new subsidiary, Van Gogh Cruises but this never took of Due to difficulties in acquiring a membership in the Association of British Travel Agents As a result the Van Gogh was chartered to the Russia-based Metropolis Tur. following the bankruptcy of Club Cruise, Van Gogh was sold in an auction in 2009 to the Cyprus-based Salamis Cruises for $ 6.5 million,she has now been renamed Salamis Filoxenia.Some of her onboard features include children's club, duty free shop, Captain's Club, piano lounge, Club Live show lounge, nightclub, cinema, seawater swimming pool,children's pool, gymnasium.
